We are now starting a new subsidiary in Japan and for this reason we are searching for a

Sales and Applications Engineer

for our non-destructive testing office in Yokohama.

Requirements

As an ideal candidate you can combine technical knowledge with sales skills and you can articulate technology and product positioning to both business and technical users.
Ideally, your qualifications should include:

• A background in mechanical or electrical engineering
• Experience in sales and other customer relations
• General understanding of eddycurrent testing or of NDT (non-destructive testing) technology
• Experience with flux leakage equipment is desirable.
• Experience in the steel industry will be a plus
• Fluent knowledge of English and Japanese both spoken and written

Responsibility

The Sales & Applications Engineer is responsible for all technical sales and service activities in Japan. You will be involved in all aspects of the supply chain from initial customer sales contact, specification of systems, and application and implementation of systems, to the development of customer support structures.

Typically tasks will be:

• establishing new, and maintaining existing, long-term relationships with customers
• managing and interpreting customer requirements
• persuading customers that a product or service will best satisfy their needs in terms of quality, price and delivery
• providing pre-sales technical assistance and product education;
• offering after-sales support services
• solving client problems
• supporting marketing activities by attending trade shows and other marketing events.

The job will involve extensive travel within Japan.
