Product description
The Fluke 820-2 is a high-performance LED stroboscope tachometer. Using 30 to 300,000 FPM, it can capture any rotational speed on rotating machines. No physical contact is required between the stroboscope and the rotating surface. Likewise, there is no need for reflective tape, any existing mark (e.g., groove, screw, balance weight, etc.) is sufficient.
With its 30 to 300,000 FPM, every rotational speed can be set and captured, even on variable-speed machines. Belt slippage on belt-driven machines can also be detected, as well as belt speed.
Technology
The Fluke 820-2 LED strobe is more than just a tool to measure the rotational speed of machines without physical contact. It is also an excellent diagnostic tool for many applications:
- Belt driven machines – fans in heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, pumps
- Ball bearings, shafts, gears or other machine parts
- Clutches and gears
- Foundations – Resonance vibrations
- Wear or damage to cables or piping
- Mixing and dosing processes
In addition, the stroboscope can be used as a stroboscope tachometer for rotational speed measurement instead of a laser tachometer. To use the stroboscope, the component to be measured must be visible. Likewise, there is no need for reflective tape, any existing mark (e.g., groove, screw, balance weight, etc.) is sufficient. A stroboscope tachometer is a helpful tool because you do not always have access to the machine shaft to glue on reflective tape to use a laser tachometer. Besides that, you cannot always make contact with the moving shaft to use a contact tachometer. With a stroboscope, you can measure the rotational speeds of shafts down to 30 FPM.
